In November, I featured two companion dogs who were ready for adoption. Although they were in a foster home with Robin Speas of 疯客直播 Fe, she felt it was time for Pal and Patches, two senior dogs, to have a permanent home.
Pal, a silky terrier, was 14 years old, and his companion, Patches, a Havanese mix, was 16 when Donna Leshne, founder of Dew Paws Rescue, started her search for an adopter.
Leshne felt it was important the two be adopted together. Pal has vision problems and Patches can鈥檛 hear very well. Since the two have been together, Pal has relied on Patches to help him get around. Aside from the two issues, Pal and Patches are healthy and not on medication.
It鈥檚 been almost two months since best friends Pal and Patches, now named Oscar and Felix, have been in their forever home.
The two companions were adopted by Bill Sheehan and Maeci Woolf of 疯客直播 Fe. The couple have three other senior dogs they have rescued, and all five get along well, said Sheehan.
In describing Oscar, Sheehan said, 鈥淔or a blind dog, it doesn鈥檛 seem to slow him down.鈥
Felix, who is deaf, tends to stay closer to Oscar and Sheehan when the pack is out for walks. 鈥淥scar knows Felix is nearby when he sniffs him in the air,鈥 Sheehan said. 鈥淗is [Oscar] whole body starts to wiggle.鈥
Sheehan and Woolf are preparing for their next big adventure. The couple recently purchased a home in Moriarty. The purchase is a story in itself.
The previous owners are preparing to move back to their hometown in the Philippines to be near family.
Having two dogs, the owners asked Sheehan and Wolf if they would be interested in allowing their two dogs to remain in the home. Sheehan quickly replied, 鈥淵es,鈥 and with the addition of 5-year-old and 19-year-old dogs, the pack has grown to seven.
Oscar and Felix not only got to remain together, but they have two incredible adopters and a big group of brothers and sisters.
